Strategies to Build Evidence Into Practice

Abstract

After reading this chapter, the student/practitioner will be able to: Develop an understanding of building evidence for practice of how to incorporate evidence into clinical practice. Apply strategies to limit the influence of potential barriers to the implementation of evidence-based practice (EBP). Understand the different tools available to enhance EBP such as critically appraised topics (CATs), critically appraised papers (CAPs), EBP resource sites, “push” e-mail programs, and other technologies (e.g., literature-searching services). Identify the essential components and different types of CATs. Understand and explain the use of CATs in EBP.
