After reading this chapter, the student/practitioner will be able to: Identify the role of evidence synthesis products in evidence-based practice. Contrast and compare commonly used evidence synthesis tools/products: clinical practice guidelines (CPGs), algorithms, clinical prediction rules (CPRs), clinical pathways (CPs), and patient decision aids (PDAs). Identify the steps required to formulate evidence-based practice guidelines. Be aware of the variations in how guidelines are developed and the potential implications. Be aware of resources for obtaining CPGs and PDAs pertaining to rehabilitation. Be able to critically evaluate CPGs using a structured critical appraisal instrument. Be able to evaluate the implementability or adaptability of CPGs using a structured tool. Be aware of resources to appraise or implement CPs. Recognize barriers to evidence synthesis products and be able to formulate an implementation plan. Identify the role of evidence synthesis products in evidence-based practice.
