Articular cartilage is avascular and has a limited intrinsic healing capacity. Injuries of articular cartilage will lead to osteoarthritis (OA). 1 , 2 OA is the leading cause of limitations in activities of daily living and has a significant socioeconomic impact on the health care system. 3 Therefore, simple and effective arthroscopic and open techniques for the treatment of articular cartilage lesions are of great interest.
