Reduced Dimension Control: An Overview of Approaches for Product Quality Control

Abstract

Reduced Dimension Control (RDC) involves the indirect control of the entire output variable space through the judicious selection of a much smaller number of controlled and manipulated variables. Many different methods and applications have addressed the problem of controlled and manipulated variable selection, but these have rarely been contrasted with one another. This paper discusses RDC in the context of product quality control and critically reviews the existing methodologies.
