Front Cover: A DNA Switch for Detecting Single Nucleotide Polymorphism within a Long DNA Sequence Under Denaturing Conditions (Chem. Eur. J. 3/2020)

Abstract

A molecular switch for ultra‐specific detection of DNA utilizing a guanine‐quadruplex (top‐right structure) resistant to denaturation by urea (ball‐and‐stick structures) is depicted in the surrealist cover artwork. The contrasting halves of the background along with colored balls represent the versatility of the switch: the red balls on the dark half represent fluorescence sensing with protoporphyrin IX and the turquoise balls represent colorimetric sensing with 2,2′‐azino‐bis (3‐ethylbenzothiazoline‐6‐sulphonic acid). The hand represents the portability of the sensor system. More information can be found in the Communication by Y. Li et al. on page 592.
