Wound Coverage Technologies in Burn Care-Established and Novel Approaches

Abstract

Major advances in burn care have been made to improve postburn morbidity and mortality. The development and incorporation of novel technologies into the clinical scenarios has contributed to this improvement. Despite tremendous advancements in postburn mortality, severely burned patients still have significant postburn morbidities, and new technologies and advancements are needed to improve the outcome for these patients. This chapter aims to delineate recent developments and techniques that are either implemented into clinical practice or are currently investigated to hopefully translate into the arsenal of treatment options soon.
