Chapter 10 Applications in reliability

Abstract

In this chapter, some key applications of hybrid censoring to diverse reliability problems are highlighted. First, by assuming that a failure in a component could arise from different competing causes, inferential methods are developed based on Type-I hybrid censoring and Type-II hybrid censoring schemes. These are then extended to the case of progressively hybrid censoring schemes. Next, stress-strength problem is discussed in the presence of hybrid censoring. Optimal design of a life-testing experiment in the context of hybrid censoring is discussed with different optimality criteria. Finally, reliability sampling plans are discussed based on likelihood and Bayesian methods for exponential and Weibull distributions. It is illustrated that the results obtained in the previous chapters can be conveniently used to handle these data situations.
