Relationship between crystal structure and magnetic properties of (RE)2V2O7; RE=Lu, Yb, Tm

Abstract

Powder neutron diffraction data were collected to determine the atomic structures of (RE)2V2O7 (RE=Lu, Yb, Tm). They all have the pyrochlore structure, crystallizing in the Fd3m space group. There has been an attempt to interpret the previously published magnetic behaviour of these compounds in terms of their structure.
