Porewater in coral heads: Evidence for nutrient regeneration1 Journal Articles

abstract

• Porewater from live coral heads was extracted by centrifugation and analyzed for pH, O2, and nutrients. Decreased pH and O2 concentrations and elevated nutrient concentrations are evidence for possible microbial regeneration. The stoichiometry fits a respiration model.
