Re-estimation of the thermal neutron capture cross section of 14N

Abstract

The thermal neutron capture cross section of 14N has been re-estimated and determined from the (n, γ) spectrum with carbon, lead and chlorine as standards to be 79.8±1.4 mb. The σγ's of 28Si, 29Si and 30Si with respect to nitrogen as standard are 207±4 mb, 120±3 mb and 107±2 mb respectively. The intensity for the ground state transition in 28Al is estimated to be 29.5±0.7% using nitrogen as standard.
