Low energy states in Ta180
Abstract
A study of both the Ta180(n,γ)Ta181 and Ta181(γ,n)Ta180 reaction reveals energy levels in Ta180 at 38, 73, 109, 181, 231, 258, and 309 keV. The 73 keV level is shown to be the long-lived J=9 state occurring in nature. Neutron separation energies of 7579±2 keV and 6063.3±0.5 keV have been determined for the Ta180-Ta181 and Ta181-Ta182 pairs, respectively.
