Controversy of the 43+ states in even osmium isotopes

Abstract

A recent letter concluded on the basis of E2 strengths that the third 4+ states in even Os isotopes are predominantly double-γ-phonons. This conclusion is inconsistent with published data from two types of experiments. Further study is urged, to find an interpretation consistent with all the available data.
