Pion-Quark Interaction and Baryon Mass Splitting

Abstract

Regarding the effect of the pion-quark interaction on baryon masses we emphasize the importance of taking into account the spin dependence of the quark energy that enters in the energy denominator. It is maintained that the pion effect on the NΔ and ΛΣ splittings is much less significant than claimed by some recent calculations.
