Critical values of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov one-sample tests

Abstract

Corrects a prevalent misuse of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test for goodness of fit by providing new critical values for the computational form of the test most often used by psychologists (D^Bn ) maximum). Existing tables for the test assume a different computational form (D^Bn ) supremum). The common use of the D^Bn)-maximum version with the D^Bn)-supremum table results in a test that is overly conservative. The consequences of using the D^Bn)-maximum computational form with its correct critical values are discussed. (16 ref)
