Lifetime of the 29.4keV level in 40K
Abstract
The half-life of the first excited state of 40 K at 29.4 keV, populated by the 39 K(n,γ) 40 K reaction, has been measured using two scintillation detectors. The result obtained was T 1/2 = 4.26 ±.08 ns. A procedure for calibrating a time-to-amplitude converter using commercial electronic modules is described.
