Pressure losses through obstruction in both horizontal and vertical bubbly flows.

Abstract

Two phase pressure drops in both adiabatic vertical and horizoantal bubbly flows were determined in the presence of flow blockages. The pressure drops due to friction and obstruction were determined based on pressure data obtained with a Meriam 33KB35 multitube well type manometer. The results indicated that the local pressure drop due to obstruction is affected by both the size and the location of the blockage. A larger pressure drop was observed for an obstruction interferring with a high velocity mixture. The stratification occurring in horizontal bubbly flow affects the pressure drop but its influence is less than in annular flow. (A)
