Contemporary issues in the geography of health care ( UK).

Abstract

Concerned with the nature, location and use of welfare services, the book looks in turn at the nature of supply systems in health care, and at consumer use of these services. After a literature review and outline of previous work, the British National Health Service is cited as an example of a nationally-provided health service. Aggregate-scale case studies of the need for health services lead on to a study of consumer use in South Wales. Analysis of aggregate, behavioural and managerialist aspects of health services should be conjoined in applied research so as to have greater relevance to decision-making situations in health care. - J.
