Abstract
John H. Argyris (1913-2004) was one of the researchers who originated the finite element method for the solution of many engineering problems (solid mechanics, fluid mechanics and more). He was professor at Imperial College, London, UK and simultaneously at the University of Stuttgart, Germany.
