Critical research problems on the ecology of lichens in subarctic Quebec.
Abstract
Until recently most research has been on the caribou lichen Cladina stellaris, which is very abundant in the spruce-lichen woodlands. This research is summarized and some directions for future studies are suggested. These center on the general problem of the temporal dynamics of lichen productivity which are very dependent on cycles of thallus wetting and drying.-from Authors
