PRODUCTION OF VIRAL STRUCTURAL ANTIGENS BY IRRADIATED ADENOVIRUS AS AN ASSAY FOR DNA REPAIR IN HUMAN FIBROBLASTS11Supported by the National Cancer Institute of Canada.

Abstract

ABSTRACTA sensitive host cell reactivation (HCR) technique was used to examine the DNA repair ability of several different human fibroblast strains. Cell cultures infected with irradiated adenovirus were examined for the presence of viral structural (V) antigens using immunofluorescent staining. A reduced HCR of this viral function was detected following the infection of fibroblasts from several patients suffering from Fanconi's anaemia (FA), ataxia telangiectasia (AT), xeroderma pigmentosum (XP), and progeria (P) as compared to normal fibroblasts.
