Abstract Polycrystalline Ba 2 MReO 6 (M: Mg, Zn, Y 2/3; Re 6+ (5d 1 , t 2g 1 )) are prepared by solid state reaction of stoichiometric amounts of BaCO 3 , MgO, ZnO, Y 2 O 3 , and ReO 3 (Pt crucible, 1000—1200 °C, 2 d).
