Problem-based learning at McMaster University: An inside view
Abstract
McMaster University pioneered the use of the small group tutorial version of problem-based learning (PBL) in medical education. This article describes an insider's view of the merits and demerits of that approach. It is argued that students, faculty, resources should be considered in implementing PBL. Evaluations are a thorny problem and measures appropriate to the goals of the program need to be developed.
