On the representation of types of psychological activities in different models of temperament

Abstract

The relationships between the activity-specific scales of the Structure of Temperament Questionnaire, Compact (STQ-77, V. Rusalov, I. Trofimova) and the non-specific scales of Pavlovian Temperament Survey (PTS, J. Strelau) on the one hand and the measures of the efficiency of different types of psychological activities (intellectual, socio-verbal and mixed) on the other, were examined on two samples: Russian (n = 174) and Canadian (n = 289). It is shown that the activity specific model of temperament STQ-77, as compared to the PTS model, gives greater possibilities in studying energy-dynamic bases of different types of psychological activities. Similar regularities were obtained on the Russian and the Canadian samples.
