Evaluation of the autoreactivity of the Cuban Heberbiovac-HB and Vax-TET vaccines in Balb/c mice

Abstract

In order to know if the immunization with the 2 Cuban vaccines usually used during the vaccination schemes induce the generation of autoimmune phenomena (autoantibodies), a longitudinal study was conducted in 30 female Balb/c mice aged 6-8 weeks with a weight between 16 and 18 g. All of them were supplied by CENPALAB. They were dividied into 3 groups of 10 mice each that were immunized with Heberbiovac-HB and Vax-TET vaccines. It was detected the presence of the rheumatoid factor, which had a physiological behavior. Autoantibodies were not observed. This study supports the use of the Cuban Heberbiovac-HB and Vax-TET vaccines in our population and it does not represent any risk. © 2006 1999, Editorial Ciencias Médicas.
