Antithrombin–heparin complexes
Abstract
Antithrombin is a serine protease inhibitor (serpin) that inhibits many plasma proteases. In particular, antithrombin functions as one of the major natural anticoagulants by irreversibly inhibiting enzymes formed during activation of the coagulation cascade in vivo [1].
