Hip arthroscopy is a technically challenging procedure that is gaining in popularity. The number of published studies looking at femoroacetabular impingement and other causes of hip pain has increased in recent years. There is, however, a paucity of high-quality studies with long-term follow-up addressing hip arthroscopy. With an increasing number of surgeons performing hip arthroscopy, it is important that indications be established for the growing number of novel procedures that are being performed. Meticulous surgical technique should also be pursued to minimize the chance of adverse events while increasing the likelihood of a positive outcome.
