Pain Self‐Management: Theory and Process for Clinicians

The purpose of this chapter is to provide a succinct overview of the evidence for psychological interventions used to assist individuals with chronic pain. This is followed by a description of psychological techniques commonly used by practitioners working with people suffering from chronic pain. Best clinical practice techniques for various treatment targets (e.g. behavioral, somatosensory, cognitive, emotional, interpersonal) in persistent pain are presented.
