Principles of Evidence‐Based Orthopedics

Abstract

Evidence‐based orthopedics is a growing paradigm in the orthopedic community that challenges the traditional approach to clinical care. With the objective of providing the best possible care for patients, evidence‐based orthopedics stresses the need for integrating relevant and critically appraised evidence from the literature with the clinical judgment and expertise of practitioners. This chapter will introduce and explain the principles of this clinical approach, demonstrate how these principles are employed in a clinical environment, and dispel some of the common misconceptions surrounding this approach.
