Adverse events

Abstract

Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) has become popular worldwide because it can provide significant benefit in many clinical contexts. Sadly, it has also caused considerable harm in a small number of patients. This chapter describes the range of adverse events, risk factors, and ways to reduce them, and provides guidance about management when they occur.
