Research note: correlates of adoption behaviors: the case of farm technologies ( Ohio).

Abstract

A study was conducted using data collected from a statewide sample of Ohio farmers to assess the correlates of selected farm technologies presently being used. Predictive factors chosen for examination included sociodemographic, attitude, and economic constraint variables. The findings revealed that the economic constraint factors were the best predictors of all the technologies evaluated. Indicators selected to represent the traditional diffusion paradigm were demonstrated to be relatively unimportant as predictive factors. The findings are discussed in the context of the diffusion and economic constraint models.-Authors
