A study to examine the impact of stress management workshops on nontraditional students' academic performance

Abstract

This study measured the effects of stress-management workshops on nontraditional students' perceived stress levels and their academic performance. The study was conducted in an academic institution in southeastern part of the United States, which included 40 nontraditional undergraduate students. Students' perceived stress levels and academic performance were assessed. Analyses of results from pretest and posttest show that nontraditional students' academic performance as measured by GPA improved by 0.5 points on a scale of 1.5 to 4.0 with treatment showing a positive long-term effect.
