Oil, industrialization and development in Arab Gulf States.

Abstract

Considers the prospects for Gulf states being able to accumulate sufficient productive capital in the non-oil sectors of their economies to offset the inevitable drawing down of oil reserves. It looks at possibilities for the Gulf Cooperation Council and within the larger Arab region and the Third World as a whole. Reviews the main challenges that these economies are facing, and are likely to face in the near future. -B.W.Beeley
