Class interests in the emergence of fruit-growing cooperation in Lincoln County, Ontario, 1880-1914.
Abstract
The character of cooperation can be better understood within the context of a class perspective. The early ventures were dominated by a small elite of wealthy fruit farmers who attempted to use them as a means to overcome their powerlessness in marketing their product. In conception and in their early operation, these organisations were cooperative ventures only in the most limited sense.-after Authors
