Comments on 'Meta-Analysis of the Relative Effects of Tabular and Graphic Display Formats on Decision-Making Performance'

Abstract

I am glad to have the opportunity to respond to some of the comments made by Schaubroeck and Muralidhar (this issue) in regard to an article I co- authored (Montazemi & Wang, 1989). Whereas Schaubroeck and Mura- lidhar's article contains diverse comments on my article, they address only two basic issues: (a) incorrect interpretation of analysis, and (b) incorrect cod- ing of previous investigations. These issues are discussed first. Then, an over- view of the complexity of developing frameworks for selecting appropriate modes of information presentation in ill-structured decision environments is presented.
