Treatment of Post‐traumatic Headache with Amitriptyline

Abstract

SYNOPSIS Twenty‐three patients were studied retrospectively for treatment received for post‐head injury. Over 90% of the patients treated made an excellent or good recovery. Prognosis in the post‐head injury victim with headache, irritability, and dizziness and visual problem, can be improved with the judicious use of amitriptyline and a counseling program with concentration on aiding the patient in communicating with significant members of his environment. Additionally, diagnosis and treatment of superimposed specific type of headache must be accomplished.
