Coincident and random summing in scintillation spectrometers

Abstract

The problem of coincident and random summing in scintillation spectrometers has been investigated. Detailed examination of the random-sum mechanism has permitted the design of experimental and computational techniques for the correction of this effect. The distortion of data by random summing is discussed for both γ-ray and β-ray spectra.
