Integrating airborne magnetics and hyperspectral imagery to develop a 3D geologic model of the Cuprite Mining District, Nevada

The Cuprite Mining District, Nevada, USA, has been the focus of recent studies using hyperspectral imagery to understand the structural and hydrothermal history of the area. Currently, two formation models exist to explain the hydrothermal alteration at Cuprite. This study shows that it is possible to distinguish between the proposed models by integrating aeromagnetic and hyperspectral data and by using 2D and 3D magnetic modeling techniques to interpret subsurface structure.
