Sediment management: Deciding when to intervene

Abstract

Contaminant uptake and movement through the food chain have impaired fish and wildlife habitat and can cause human health concerns. Gail Krantzberg, John Hartig, and Michael Zarull describe a pragmatic way to interpret comprehensive sediment bioassessment data, leading to selection of ecosystem-based, cost-effective sediment management options.
