CFD analysis of oxygen steelmaking kinetics and slag foaming using IMPHOS pilot plant data

This paper analyzes the applicability of first-order kinetics for predicting steelmaking reactions using published data from the IMPHOS (IMproving PHOSphorus refining) pilot plant study. Further work is planned, which will incorporate more rigorous relationships in slag composition calculations and these models will then be used with computational fluid dynamics models to predict slopping behavior.
