MAXIMUM ENTROPY ESTIMATION OF RADAR CLUTTER SPECTRA.

Abstract

While the maximum entropy method (MEM) of spectral analysis has drawn considerable attention in the work of geophysicists, it seems to be less widely known in other technical fields, particularly in radar and communications. The purpose of this paper is to present a review of the method, and to compare its properties with those of conventional methods of spectral analysis. Several examples involving the analysis of both computer-simulated and recorded radar clutter data are included to illustrate the applicability of the MEM in radar signal processing.
