Polymer flow through spiral mandrel dies: A comparison of models

Abstract

Abstract Three existing models used to simulate the flow of polymer melts through spiral mandrel dies are compared. Each model was of different complexity and provided different results when used to simulate the flow through two dies. All three models indicated an improvement in flow distribution when the power‐law index was increased. Experimental verification of the predictions is required before their validity is proven.
