SIMULATION OF EXTRUDATE SWELL FROM LONG SLIT AND CAPILLARY DIES.

Abstract

A finite element simulation of extrudate swell from long slit and capillary dies has been carried out by using as an approximation a rheological equation that is valid in simple shear flow. Despite the limitations of the model, the results exhibit a striking similarity to other numerical simulations involving rheological equations that are valid for nonviscometric flow fields.
