APPLICATION OF AN ANISOTROPIC HARDENING RULE IN THE NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF A FOOTING.

Abstract

A combined isotropic-kinematic hardening rule is applied to simulate numerically a scale model footing test as performed at Imperial College. The finite-element results are compared with experimental data and with the solutions for a purely isotropic hardening description. The process of load removal and reloading is next studied for a two-layer soil, and the associated pore pressure distribution is determined.
