abstract

  • AbstractThe optical phonons of NaClO3 have been studied over a wide temperature range by Raman spectroscopy. It has been shown that the observed dielectric behaviour of this crystal may be accounted for solely in terms of the contributions from the polar phonons and that it is not necessary to postulate the existence of other dielectric mechanisms in the region between the microwave and far infra‐red regions. No evidence has emerged to support the suggestion that sodium chlorate is a fcrroelectric.
