A study of the spontaneous magnetization of EuLiH3 using the Mössbauer effect

Abstract

The spontaneous magnetization of the ferromagnetic semiconductor EuLiH3 is studied using the 151Eu Mössbauer effect. Mössbauer parameters determined are isomer shift = −12.8 mm/sec and Heff(0) = 251 kOe. Critical parameters are found to be β = 0.32 and Tc = 37.6 K. Analysis using the Callen-Callen spin cluster model gives J1/k = + 0.8 K and J2/k= ± 0.05 K.
