Metal‐metal chelate exchange reactions in the ion source of a mass spectrometer

Abstract

Abstract In the mass spectra of several transition metal chelates with diethyldithiocarbamate as a ligand, intense peaks are present which could be assigned to extraneous metal (particularly nickel) containing ions. Using an Au‐Rh coated ion source, evidence was obtained for the occurrence of exchange reactions in the region of the filament assembly.
