Abstract Benzhydryl 6,6‐dibromopenicillanate (I) is converted into the trans‐6α‐ (2'‐cyanoethyl)penicillanate (Va) in a one‐pot procedure by reductive debromination and subsequent tributyltin radical‐mediated addition reaction with acrylonitrile (IVa).
