Higher-order volume-symmetry terms of the mass formula
Abstract
By considering a large number of different Hartree-Fock effective interactions we show that the M-coefficient of the droplet-model part of the mass formula is close to zero. On the other hand, the L-coefficient is strongly correlated with the familar symmetry coefficient J: we have L around 10 MeV for J = 30 MeV, while for J = 38 MeV it has risen to about 90 MeV.
