Saturation properties of infinite nuclear matter via hartree-fock calculations on finite nuclei

Abstract

A family of three effective interactions is developed giving equivalent fits to the static properties of finite spherical nuclei but quite different saturation densities for infinite nuclear matter, k0F varying between 1.36 and 1.42 fm−. A strong inverse correlation between k0F and the incompressibility K, of the type first noted by Blaizot, Gogny, and Grammaticos, is established.
