Metabolism of [U-14C]glucose was studied in the prenatal and neonatal rabbit ovary. Control tissues included the testis and female liver. No significant changes in glucose metabolism were observed in liver tissue. Mitosis and glucose oxidation were maximal in ovary and testis at 30 days post coitum and then declined dramatically by Day 8 after birth.
